Polka Wars started in the summer of 2010 when high school mates Karaeng Raja Adjie (guitar, vocal), Billy Aulia Saleh (guitar) and Xandega Tahajuansya (bass) began writing songs in Xandega’s bedroom. Giovanni Rahmadeva (drums), who also went to the same high school - but was two years their senior, joined the band right after graduating from college. As for keys and saxophone, the band owes credit to Sistha Anindya.
All members range in age from 19 to 21 years old. So far, Polka Wars has written 5 songs, 2 of which are self-produced with a little help from Uga Swastadi; who is studying music production at U.S at the moment.
Polka Wars is not the band members' first experience; Karaeng and Xandega were in Namora, Billy was in Last Heroes and Giovanni was in Unseen Forehead & The Glasses and Kimboslice, each of which has performed in numerous gigs throughout the years.
Most of their lyrics are written by Karaeng and Xandega. According to them,
their mothers inspired them to make music. Their influences varies from The Police, The Black Keys, Wild Beasts, Fleet Foxes to SORE.
